Backup restore tests are not documented
Description
The infrastructure team runs backup restore tests every quarter, but the audit could not find a written record of the last two tests. The team confirmed that the restores worked, yet there was no test plan, no result, and no sign-off to show it. Without that record the company cannot show a customer or an auditor that a backup can really be restored.
Summary
On trackThis workflow is complete.
The infrastructure team ran the restore tests but kept the results in the team chat only. No template existed for a restore test.
A restore test template with the system, the backup used, the time needed, and the result is now filed with each test. The two undocumented tests were repeated and documented.
The last quarterly restore test is documented in full and was signed off by the Infrastructure Manager. The corrective action is effective.
